about foreign policy issues but the timing is critical now after the strong debate performance and the final month the campaign says they believe what the independent eyeballs focusing on this. as you noted, trying to demonstrate that peace through strength and effectively accuse the president of being a weak leader who has been bad for the military of this country. among some of the comments are the following. i know the president hopes for a safer, freer and more prosperous middle east allied with the united states. i share that hope but hope is not a strategy. there will also be familiar themes that we expect to hear here. the significance of avoiding defense cuts, specifically referring to sequestration and could affect tens of thousands of people here in virginia specifically. the need to reinvest in the military and the significance of working closely with america's allies. a lot of these contrasts rhetorical more than actual contrasts and witness. he's been vague as some noticed about policy differences with the president but one place where he'll show a difference is on

on foreign policy at that speech at the virginia military institute here in lexington later on this morning. and the campaign did release some excerpts from the speech that we could look at to sort of see where he might be going with this address later on this morning. a few things to point out, carol. he's going to be going after the president as you mentioned just a few moments ago on those diplomatic attacks in benghazi, libya. he's going to be talking about that attack as the work of al qaeda, saying that that was likely the work of the same forces that attacked the united states on september 11th. now, a few other things he's going to be talking about. he's going to be calling for new sanctions, stronger sanctions against the government in iran to prevent that country from developing nuclear weapons. he's also going to be talking about arming the syrian rebels. lastly, carol, as part of his remarks that were releasted by the campaign, interesting to note that he is also going to be calling for a prosperous state of palestine to stand side by side with the state of israel. that's a very

. to deal with china, it is the fundamental problem of american foreign policy right now. the difficulty is chinese history is totally different. we have been secure through most of our history from other countries, the impact of foreign societies on us. the chinese state has always been surrounded by a multiplicity of states. the management of all barriers has been a principal necessity of chinese foreign policy. we have done it on a pragmatic basis. the chinese have learned to take a longer, strategic view because one cannot decide the outcome of any issue unless you look at it in a longer-term. but these societies have two different approaches. it is an ever evolving situation. china is now rising country. we have the status quo countries similar to germany and england and therefore the likelihood is something like that might occur again. remember, china is a country that is returning to what it believes it has always been, namely the center of asian affairs. but it is inevitable that the rise in china will impinge on the united states. there are a number of things we need to keep in

country and his plan really speaks to that both on economy, foreign policy and other points about so that there is no question this debate is important, but also you are right, there's a long time left. there's two jobs reports that are left. about 33, 34 days that are left in this campaign. it's a long time. but what you saw going into this debate are polls tightening in florida, in ohio, all across the board in the battleground states. and this will build on that momentum. and when the jobs report comes out, there will not be a positive jobs report by all expectations from president obama that will again build on that momentum and add to mitt romney really getting toward november 6th with full steam ahead. but there are two debates left. it's important for mitt romney not to have a let down in the next debate which is more of a town hall structure. and that bodes well for president obama. but if mitt romney can keep going with the strength that he did in the first debate, it will be a very tough election for president obama. >> chris, let's bring you in. boris reckons that romney s
